Gleeson Strategic Land has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Leigh Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The proposed works are: widening of the existing carriageway of the B3073 Leigh Road into the existing highway verge on the southern side of the road in order to create a new signalised T-junction, covering 1,086 sqm of common land within the public highway, and widening ofthe existing footwayintothe existing highwayverge on the northern side ofthe road in order to improve the footway to footway / cycleway standard, covering up to 1,685 sqm of common land within the public highway.
The works will be located on the B3073 Leigh Road between Park Farm Cottages and up to the western extent of the common frontage with Leigh Road. A copy of the application form and accompanying documents can be inspected at East Dorset District Council, Council Offices, Furzehill, Wimborne, BH214HN during normal office hours until Friday 8th January 2016.
