Dean Goodwin has spent most of his life in and out of prison.
As a teenager he was sentenced to 30 months at Portland Young Offender Institution for a string of offences which included an indecent assault on a young boy.
The then 19-year-old was released 15 months early in March 2000 and considered suitable for supervision and bailed to an address in Bournemouth.
Goodwin failed to return to his lodgings just over a month later and the evening of his disappearance, just weeks after his release, he exposed himself to a woman in Boscombe Gardens.
He then attacked a lone 63-year-old woman in broad daylight in Wallisdown and five days later subjected a 13-year-old schoolgirl to an attack in Parkstone.
He was arrested at his grandmother’s home in Ringwood a week later, where officers discovered him hiding in a wardrobe.
Goodwin was 20 years old when he was jailed for 10 years in July 2000 with Judge Samuel Wiggs telling him “only an extended period in custody would ensure the public were protected”.
He also said the normal sentence for the offences – three years – would not be enough to protect the public from harm.
In 2009 Goodwin was again on the run after failing to announce himself at a hostel in the West Country.
He was eventually arrested on the Isle of Wight after buying a train ticket in Bristol.
