ONE of the highlights of the Christchurch Food and Wine Festival will be a part of this year’s event once again.

The Kids’ Kitchen workshops will be taking place at The Priory School in Wick Lane on the same days as the festival market – Saturday May 11 and Sunday May 12 – thanks to continued sponsorship from the Rotary Club of Christchurch.

This year's Kids’ Kitchen will feature workshops for youngsters aged three to 14 years old including Little Munchkins Cookery Parties for three to five year olds four times each day.

And six to 10-year-olds can join Lesley's Little Chefs to make their own soup and fruit trifles, while six- to nine-year-olds and ten- to 14-year-olds can take part in the Junior and Senior versions of Baking FUN-damentals with Flavours School of Cookery.

The final workshop, for nine to 14 year olds, will show how to make two classic soups – minestrone and spiced vegetable. Waitrose will be providing the food to be cooked by the young chefs and all workshops will last for an hour and a half. They cost £5 each, to include a goodie bag.

Dr David Rogers, president of the Rotary Club of Christchurch said: “The Rotary Club is delighted to be able to support this event in the Christchurch Food and Wine Festival once again. Teach a chef at an impressionable age and they’ll be able to cook forever.”
