DANGEROUS rapist Dean Goodwin has pleaded guilty to a string of terrifying offences carried out while on the run in Dorset and Hampshire last year.
The burly 32-year-old sex offender admitted attempted murder, five charges of rape, false imprisonment and robbery when he appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court this morning.
He also admitted assault by penetration and two offences of burglary and will be sentenced tomorrow morning.
Goodwin, 32, of Blackburn Road, Poole sparked a huge manhunt when he brutally raped a woman in her Poole home on November 23.
In the following days he burgled a house in Wimborne and Wallisdown Liberal Club in Bournemouth before moving on to Andover in Hampshire to commit further offences including attempted murder, rape, false imprisonment and robbery.
He was eventually cornered in Poole when armed officers wrestled him to the ground after spotting him running down Bournemouth Road.
Dozens of police officers including 40 detectives, armed response officers and the force helicopter team had been involved in the manhunt.
Goodwin has been in and out of prison since he was 19 when he was sent to a Young Offender Institution for a string of offences including an indecent assault on a young boy.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2000 and went on the run in 2009.
The father of the woman raped in Poole has told the Daily Echo: “My daughter has been left traumatised by Goodwin's actions - the thought of her suffering at the hands of this man is just horrendous.”
Detective Inspector Marcus Hester, who led the police investigation, said: “He is unable to control himself at all.”
