BRUTE Dean Goodwin has spent most of his life in and out of prison.
His first spell was at the age of 19 when he was sentenced to 30 months at Portland Young Offender Institution for a string of offences which included an indecent assault on a young boy.
He was released 15 months early in March 2000 and considered suitable for supervision and bailed to an address in Bournemouth.
Goodwin failed to return to the lodgings a month later and that evening exposed himself to woman in Boscombe Gardens.
He then attacked a lone 63-year-old woman in broad daylight in Wallisdown and five days later subjected a 13-year-old to an attack in Parkstone.
He was arrested at his grandmother’s house in Ringwood a week later, where officers discovered him hiding in a wardrobe.
Goodwin, then aged just 20, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in July 2000.
In 2009 Goodwin went on the run again after failing to announce himself at a hostel in the West Country.
He was eventually arrested on the Isle of Wight after buying a train ticket in Bristol.
Jailing Goodwin for 10 years for the two sex assaults and a burglary, Judge Samuel Wiggs said: “The normal sentence would have been three years.
“However, I do not think that’s long enough to protect the public from harm and for your rehabilitation.”
Speaking after the Bournemouth Crown Court case, investigating officer DCI Geoff Croft said: “If he had not been arrested when he was there could have been a far more serious sexual assault.”
Goodwin was released from prison in 2011 after serving a total of 12 years for the offences.
