Nick Verron, then 25, was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver in the lane 2009 and suffered horrific injuries. The business development manager was not expected to survive the ferocious attack but earlier this year Nick, who was told recovery was “unrealistic” and that he would never walk again, took his first unaided steps.
Jason Teelin, who was just 17 at the time of the attack, was jailed for seven years for inflicting GBH with intent And Southbourne resident Nicholas Ormerod was stabbed by homeless alcoholic Mark Haylock in a nearby flat, before stumbling out into the street with fatal injuries.
Since then his mum, Jane, who lives in Cranleigh Road, has campaigned against knife crime.
Local MP Tobias Ellwood was attacked by a gang of yobs in 2009 after asking them to stop kicking a ball around a street.
When they refused and started to throw the ball at his face, the Bournemouth East MP took photographs of them and called police.
The gang then tried to steal his phone and Mr Ellwood was punched several times and needed hospital treatment for minor head injuries and temporary hearing loss.
