A FAMILY from Canford Heath are aiming to raise £5,000 for charity in memory of their mother.
Samuel, Alex and Anna Moss, along with their dad, Clive, and their cousin, Jo Edmund are fundraising for Forest Holme Hospice, through charity events.
These include the Bournemouth Half Marathon this Sunday and a fun ‘zombie run’ on October 27, in honour of mum, Carol, who died on May 17, aged 58.
Earlier this year, they took part in the annual Pier to Pier Swim for the British Heart Foundation, and their biggest challenge is ahead of them, when they all take on a trek through the Sahara desert in November.
Alex said: “Mum spent her last few weeks at Forest Holme, where they looked after her so well, so we wanted to give something back.
He added: “We are about half-way to our target of £5,000, with more events still to come, including our Sahara trek, on November 8.
“Rather than just one event, we wanted to do many to raise as much money as possible.
“We also have other family members and friends who have taken part, with up to 20 people for each event.
“We have all committed to fundraising in memory of Carol, who was really into her swimming and was a coach at Bournemouth Dolphins Swimming Club, as well as helping with competitions and events in Wareham and Poole.
“In fact, she was given a posthumous lifetime achievement award by Poole Swimming Club for her work at the masters.
“Swimming was her passion and when she got ill, while she wasn’t professionally involved, she still helped out with it when she could.”
