ABOUT 300 members of Lord Kitchener's Army encamped in the immediate neighbourhood spent an enjoyable time at the Liberal Hall, Poole, on Saturday evening.
Ample arrangements for their entertainment had again been made by Mr. W. Rolfe.
Tea was provided under the supervision of Mrs. Kellev, Mrs. Rolfe, Mrs. J. P. Cole, Mrs J. Cartridge, T. Cartridge, Mrs. Hammond, Mrs J. Young, Miss B. A. Willis and Miss Price, and subsequently an admirable programme of music was gone through, Mr. W. Bishton officiating as director of ceremonies.
The chair was occupied by Councillor G. W. Green, J. P, who was supported on the platform by the Rev. E.G. French (Poole Primitive Methodist) , "Captain" Burgess (Church Army, St Paul's Parish) and Mr. L. H. Fleet.
Songs were rendered by Mrs. Kirkham Jones (including the recruiting song "Fall In," by Harold Begbie and F.H. Cowen), Miss M. Farr, Miss Rose Coward, Miss Wilson, Miss Hallett and Mr. Will Lester, humorous items given by Mr George Stone, recitations contributed by Mr. B. L. Littlewood and Mr F. F. Etchells, and banjo selections provided by the Dudley Bros.
The accompaniments were played by Miss Coward.
