RESIDENTS lined the seafront and applauded outside the shops in Swanage as the Remembrance Sunday parade moved through the town centre.
Walking between two military vehicles, the Ringwood Pipe Band led members of the parade from the Mowlem Theatre on Shore Road, along Institute Road and the High Street to Kings Road East to St Mary’s Church.

Hundreds of people clapped and cheered on those taking part in the parade, which included serving and former members of the Armed Forces, the mayor of Swanage, Cllr Alison Patrick, and other civic dignitaries.
Initially, the rain lashed down over the town but the sun made an appearance just in time for the parade to make its way through the streets of Swanage.
Canon John Wood, team rector of Swanage and Studland and rural dean of Purbeck, led the service at St Mary’s Church before heading to the war memorial on the seafront for a re-dedication event, before wreaths were laid.
Ahead of the event, one of the organisers, Frank Roberts, said that close family representatives wearing the medals of deceased members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces were especially welcome to be included in the town’s parade and events.
