Bournemouth's run at the top of the Championship continues after a 3-1 victory away to Wigan.
Callum Wilson came back to goal scoring form against Wigan, netting a brace in the process and ending a two game goalless run. Yann Kermorgant was the other scorer for The Cherries leaving them 3-0 up after 57 minutes. Wigan did manage to grab a consolation goal on the hour but were unable to capitalise any further.
Highlights
8 minutes in Wigan almost took the lead when James McClean hit the post with a free kick from a tight angle just outside the area. Minutes later down the other end, Ali Al Habsi made a fine save to deny Yann Kermorgant the opening goal.
Just after the half hour mark, new signing Kim Bo-Kyung hit an audacious overhead kick just over Boruc’s goal. Shortly after, Callum Wilson opened the scoring after getting in behind the opposition’s defence and slotting home. Some questions were raised about whether Wilson was offside but the linesman’s flag stayed down.
Within a matter of minutes Bournemouth doubled their lead through Yann Kermorgant as he smashed home from the edge of the area.
After the break it was a slow start for both teams with no serious goal threats until the 57th minute when Wilson sealed the win with his second and Bournemouth’s third of the afternoon.
With Bournemouth seemingly in control, Wigan debutant Leon Clarke pulled one back for the Latics on the hour with a header at the back post knocking a consolation past Boruc.
Wigan’s only serious effort after this was Liam Ridgewell’s header in the 64th minute that was tipped over by Bournemouth’s shot stopper.
Man of the Match
Despite Wilson scoring the vital goals, Yann Kermorgant is my Man of the Match. Not only did the Frenchman get on the score sheet himself but he also provided the assists for Wilson’s two goals. Yann helped out defensively too, racking up 5 clearances during the game.

Summary
Overall a comfortable win for AFC Bournemouth as expected. Some worrying moments in which Wigan looked threatening but they could not find the back of the net until the game was already lost.
