The hotly anticipated 11th year of Bestival has been confirmed to be happening on the 10th-13th September 2015. Tickets will go on sale for the four-day music festival at 10am on Thursday 12th February. Tickets will start from £195. The festival will be held, as usual, at the Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight.
The highly successful 2014 Desert Island Disco themed festival landed Bestival with nominations for ‘Best Major Festival’ and ‘Best Dance Event’ at the 2014 UK Festival Awards and saw headliners Outkast as well as supporting acts Paloma Faith, Disclosure, Sam Smith, Basement Jaxx, Clean Bandit, Major Lazer and La Roux to name only a few.
This years ‘Summer of Love’ theme is said to see the festival return to it’s roots and “salute to the original muses” of Music, Freedom, Peace, Love and Euphoria. Bestival is famed for its fancy dress ethos having set the Guinness World Record for the most people in fancy dress at one event back in 2010.
This years introduction to the ‘hippy’ esque theme can be watched on YouTube. Think bright, 60’s colours of orange, pink, purple and green with some peace symbols thrown in for good measure.
Bestival’s alternative and diverse ethos and non-commercial feel attracts crowds as large as 55,000 to the island. The event is organised by DJ Rob da Bank and his wife Josie who live on the Isle of Wight when not in London.
Festival’s are extremely popular with students. Bournemouth University student, April Waterston 20, said that she “can’t wait for this summers festivals…Bestival sounds like it’s going to be fab!”
Bestival is known for supporting social and environmental causes as well as charities. This year’s event will support the Isle of Wight Youth Trust Charity (Reg Charity no. 1087163) with a £1 donation being added to the sale of every ticket. The charity helps provide support to young people under the age of 25.
The 2015 line up is also set to be released on the 12th of February via Bestival’s Twitter and website.
Tickets will be able to be purchased from www.ticketline.co.uk/bestival-tickets or by calling 0844 888 4410.
