Bournemouth remain in the play off places after being held to another draw.

For the first time this season a game ended 0-0 at the Goldsands Stadium. Blackburn are only the third team this season to keep the Cherries from scoring and were rewarded with a point for their efforts.

The game started half an hour late after Bournemouth’s Tommy Elphick and Artur Boruc were held up in traffic after an accident on the A338.

No team asserted any dominance in the first half and chances were rare. Bournemouth had one real goal threat from Marc Pugh but the effort was tipped over by Jason Steele. A couple of half chances were made but nothing that caused any real problem for either keeper.

The second half was livelier but neither team could find the back of the net. Bournemouth dominated in possession and shots on target but were denied a goal in a frustrating afternoon. Yann Kermorgant’s headed effort hit the bar in the closing stages of the game. Minutes before this Kermorgant was denied by yet another fine save from the Blackburn keeper.

Bournemouth have not won a game since the 7th February and must find form in order to be in with a chance of promotion. They play Wolves at the Goldsands on Tuesday night in what appears to be a must win for them. Failure to take 3 points could result in them slipping out of the play-off places.

Man of the match

Man of the match this week was Blackburn goalkeeper, Jason Steele, who pulled off two fine saves during the game to keep the score level. He made no mistakes and dealt with crosses and corners comfortably, a solid performance that made sure the Rovers took a point away with them.

Summary

An uneventful game with the match highlights being two great saves by Jason Steele and Yann Kermorgant hitting the bar in the final few minutes.
