The annual Christchurch Food and Wine Festival will be held next weekend between the 9th and 10th of May from 10am till 6pm in the town centre of Christchurch.
The Festival Village will include stands from over 120 traders providing local, regional and intertanitonal tastes of quality food, drink and related products. There will also be the opportunity to enjoy culinary dishes from top celebrity chefs as well as live music and other entertainment.
This time the Festival Village and the demonstrations from celebrity chefs will be located on the Quomps, Christchurch Quay. On Sunday, the TV chef, Dean Edwards, known from being a Masterchef finalist in 2006, and currently a resident chef on ITV’s “Lorraine”, will be demonstrating his skills from his new recipe book. Other culinary chefs this year include Lesley Waters, and the executive chef from the Chewton Glen, Luke Matthews, who will provide an insight to the current menu at one of the world’s finest hotels. When it comes to international professionals, the most spoken chef is no doubt Jamaican Levi Roots, providing exotic Carribean flavours and “Reggae Reggae” products.
The actual Street Market will continue all the way to the High Street lay-bys and in the Alley Market opposite M & S Simply Food. The festival will welcome back many of last year’s traders as well as some new interesting talent. This year the there will be a selection of traders specialised in vegan products, and Cake-Links will show attendees how to decorate creative cakes and cupcakes. Being one of the favourites last year, Italia in Piazza Italian Market will be returning to Church Street with the opportunity to purchase some traditional Italian products.
In addition to the events, many cafes, restaurants and pubs are getting involved in the Trails, such as Coffee and Cake Trail, Cocktail Trail and a Real Ale Trail, and continuing with their own special events throughout the whole month.
However, if you cannot make it to the food heaven in Christchurch this May, Bournemouth will be hosting ten days of foodie fun with its own Food and Drink Festival from 19th to 28th June 2015.
