Bournemouth is sure to be put on the creative map with the launch of a new local business, Big Love From Bournemouth, launched by Adele Cleaver.
Big Love from Bournemouth is a contemporary range of greeting cards and postcards that aim to promote the current creative scene developing in the region. The brand allows local people to get involved and be proud about Bournemouth’s greatness, alongside creating a quirky and fun memory for tourists to bring home with them. The new business was created by Adele Cleaver, a 28 year old from Birmingham, who moved to Bournemouth in September and is working hard to raise the creative profile of Bournemouth, Southbourne and Poole.
The decision to set up Big Love from Bournemouth was inspired when Adele first moved to the town and noticed the lack of contemporary, location-specific and locally produced greeting cards. When asked if anything else fuelled the idea for her business, Adele said it was “knowing that Dorset is very artistic, but not necessarily quirky. I wanted to add a dimension of fun.”
Since making the decision to set up her brand, Adele has been able to gather inspiration from Bournemouth’s undeniable natural beauty and scenic views, all of which are available from her doorstep.
Adele is a participant of The Prince’s Trust Explore Enterprise programme; a course that guides and supports participants with their business plan. The trust has offered invaluable support to assist with the set up of Big Love for Bournemouth, and Adele says “they have helped lift my confidence. The range of expertise and the mentors is really valuable.”
As well as the beauty of a seaside town and support from a brilliant programme, Adele’s blue trike cannot be left out of the recipe for her success. A blue cargo tricycle can be spotted around Bournemouth, Poole and Southbournee. The use of the trike has had people shouting ‘Big Love for Bournemouth’, and welcomes people to take their own pictures with it and share them on social media with the hashtags #biglovefrombournemouth or #blfb.
