THE runners and riders have been unveiled in the December sprint for a seat in the House of Commons.
Across Dorset and the New Forest the 10 seats, which had all been won by the Conservatives in the 2017 snap election, will be up for grabs when residents go to the polls on Thursday, December 12.
The full list of candidates for each constituency was published last week.
Nine of the 10 seats will see the winners from two years ago attempt to retain their spot in parliament.
Independent Sir Oliver Letwin, who played a big role in delaying the Brexit process and was elected as a Conservative, has not put himself forward to stand in West Dorset.
Away from the main three parties, the Green Party have fielded a candidate across every Dorset and New Forest seat.
There are three independent candidates, one for the Animal Welfare Party and one with no party stated.
Many of the Conservatives have big majorities to defend at the ballot box.
There are also some familiar faces from the world of local government in Dorset on the candidate list.
BCP Council leader Vikki Slade is standing in Mid Dorset and North Poole, a seat she attempted to win in both 2015 and 2017 but lost out to Tory Michael Tomlinson. Meanwhile, Green Party BCP Council member Simon Bull is on the candidate list in Bournemouth West and his colleague Chris Rigby is standing in Christchurch, where Liberal Democrat councillor Mike Cox is also running.
