In their weekly statement, Public Health Dorset said: “COVID-19 case rates remain high across Dorset. We have seen a small decrease in the case rate for BCP Council since last week, but it remains significantly above the averages for the South West and England.
“Cases continue to be highest amongst the younger population in Dorset, many of whom are not yet fully vaccinated, but we are seeing cases across all age groups. Although restrictions have been lifted, high local case rates are a reminder that we are still living with COVID-19 and we all need to continue to consider the risks.
“Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself from becoming seriously ill, but there's still a chance you could catch or spread COVID-19 even if you're fully vaccinated.”
The total number of vaccinations administered in the New Forest is 267,465 - 139,852 first doses and 120,847 people have had a second jab.
There have been 73,68-,783 vaccines administered in England to date - 7,884,597 of them have been given to patients in the South West.
