Great British Bake Off returned to screens for bread week, the third episode in the series, with another talented contestant winning the star baker prize and another leaving the show.
This week saw the bakers trying to win the judges over in the tent with a focaccia signature, ciabatta breadstick technical and the final milk bread showstopper round.
As usual there were lots of hilarious moments on GBBO this week, including Freya calling Noel ‘Where’s Wally’ due to his stripy jumper, and Giuseppe accidentally calling him ‘Neil’ instead of Noel.

Here is a round-up of everything that happened in episode three, from bread babies to the first coveted Hollywood handshake being awarded.
What were some of the highlights from bread week?
The first round in bread week saw bakers create their signature focaccias.
Two-time star baker Jurgen did not wow the judges this week with his kipper and boiled egg focaccia, which was underproved and overbaked according to Paul.
Winner of the technical was Giuseppe, who’s Italian roots no doubt gave him an advantage with the ciabatta breadsticks.
The showstoppers were impressive with George making a Koala out of milk bread and Jurgen’s ‘The Baby’ design.
Crystelle also made a Sunday roast milk bread design, complete with Yorkshire puddings, which looked almost too good to eat.

Who won star baker?
After receiving the first handshake of the series for his traditional Italian olive and tomato focaccia, father-of-three Giuseppe was awarded star baker.

Giuseppe’s 5-a-day veg basket made from bread stunned the judges and viewers, making it no surprise he bagged the coveted star baker award.

Who left the show?
After coming last in the technical, it was no surprise to viewers that Rochica was the third contestant to leave the show after failing to impress the judges during bread week.
At the end of the show, Rochica said: “I have really, really enjoyed it and not everybody gets to bake in the Bake Off tent so I’m proud of where I’ve got to and I’m just going to keep baking, just don’t do anything till that time.”
What is the theme next week?
Next week sees another round of sweet treats hitting our screens – dessert week.
Bakers will be challenged with another three bakes: the signature, technical and showstopper.
Great British Bake Off airs every Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4
