IT IS nearly bonfire night and that calls for one thing - to grab your wellies and wooly hat and head out to your favourite fireworks display. 

There will be a host of displays lighting up the skies to mark bonfire night over the next few weeks. 

Here are 11 events taking place across Dorset and the New Forest: 

  • Avonwood Primary School’s Fireworks Display

Gates open at 5pm and the superb professional firework display will take place at approximately 7pm.

In addition to fireworks there will be a children's round about ride, tin can alley game and a striker test your strength game amongst others. We have a bouncy castle and inflatable pillow fight game.

There will be a selection of food and drink stalls for you to enjoy. Music all evening and more stalls and entertainment will be added over the next few weeks.

A fun event with the added bonus of all profits going to support Avonwood Primary School.

  • Bournemouth Fireworks ‘Big Bang’

Bournemouth’s 'Big Bang' display will take place at  Ringwood Raceway, Matchams, Hurn Road Ringwood BH242BT on Saturday, November 6. 

Gates open at 12 midday, racing at 6pm, fireworks approximately 8.40pm - there will be no entry after 8pm.

Drivers racing must be on site, scrutineered & ready to race by 5pm ready for the drivers brief.

This night is not just a bang of fireworks it is a Huge night of banger racing. 

General admission (14+) is £20, pre-teen tickets (11 to 13) cost £10, children aged five to 10 cost £5 and under fives go free. 

  • Broadstone Middle School Fireworks

The fireworks in Broadstone will be back on Saturday, October 30.

This is the 5th anniversary of the family event, benefitting the Broadstone First and Middle Schools.  The event has grown over the years, adding music, games, and this year a scare maze.

There will also be burgers, hot dogs, a beer tent, fire performers, and spectacular fireworks. 

Mark Grigsby, Broadstone Middle School PTA president, said: “The children at our local schools are so excited to see a proper firework display again after missing out last year. We have pulled out all the stops for our 5th anniversary to produce a display to remember!”

Doors open at 5.30pm and the fireworks display begins at 7.30pm.

  • Ringwood Grand Fireworks

Ringwood's dramatic grand firework display takes place on Sunday, November 7 at Carvers Recreation Ground from 3pm and includes two displays, a traditional bonfire, bar area and hog roast.

Tickets will be £1.50 in advance or £3 on the gate. Live entertainment starts at 4pm for children and there will be a child friendly firework display shortly after dusk (around 5.30pm). From 5.45pm there will be live music from the fabulous Swing Unlimited Big Band.

The bonfire will be lit at around 6.15pm with the main display at 7pm. Swing Unlimited will close the event with a second magnificent set.

  • East Dorset Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club Fireworks Night

East Dorset Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, Salterns Road in Poole will host attractions for all ages including disco, toddler play area, hot food, chocolate fountain on Saturday, November 6. Gates open at 5.30pm. 

Under 2’s go free, children (up to 13) are £5, adults (14+) £8 - there is no parking on site and tickets are available at the clubhouse. 

  • Wareham Wednesday’s Monster Firework Display 

Wareham Wednesday’s Monster Firework Display  will take place on Friday, November 5 with gates opening at 6pm. 

The bonfire and firework extravaganza will be held at the Swanage and Wareham Rugby Club. There will be food, drinks, live music, entertainment and fun fair rides. 

Frontline and emergency services workers go free. 

  • New Milton Round Table Charity Fireworks

New Milton Round Table Charity Fireworks is celebrating its 58th Year at Fawcetts Field on Saturday October 30. Gates open at 5.30pm with fireworks at 7pm. All money raised is for local causes. 

  • Poole Quay Fireworks 

Poole Quay's impressive free firework display starts from 5pm with the main display at 8pm on Friday, November 5. 

This event is always very popular and people attending by car should expect delay when leaving the main quay visitors car park, straight after the fireworks.

The event organisers highly recommend parking at either the Dolphin Shopping Centre or Harbourside Park as the car parks at the seafront and quay can get busy.

  • Sixpenny Handley Fireworks Spectacular 

The community at Sixpenny Handley will join together for a firework spectacular on November 6. 

The annual event, now in its 17th year, is organised by 1st Woodcutts Scouts with burgers and sausages from the village butcher, warming pumpkin soup and beer and cider from local brewers and family games. For more details, see their facebook events page, Sixpenny Handley Firework Spectacular. 

  • Sherborne Fireworks 

Sherborne’s annual fireworks at the castle is back this year on Saturday, November 6. 

Gates open at 4.30pm and there will be a laser show at 7pm followed by fireworks at 7pm. 

Standard adult tickets cost £11, children and senior citizen tickets cost £7.50 - parking is £4. 

  • Guy Fawkes Bonfire and Fireworks Evening in Weymouth

​Weymouth's  Guy Fawkes Bonfire and Fireworks Evening will be held on Friday, November 5.

Stalls will be located on the Weymouth Promenade with food, drinks and an array of activities available to enjoy on the night before the mega firework spectacular.
