A POOLE campsite has been named the best in the UK at a national camping awards.
South Lytchett Manor Caravan and Camping Park was bestowed with the Campsite of the Year award at the 2021 AA Caravan and Camping Awards.
The site was also named the Overall Winner award, beating other sites in Scotland and Wales.
AA inspectors praised the site as an “elite touring park with superb glamping and excellent customer care”.
The winners of the awards were announced in a virtual ceremony, celebrating the best UK camping locations for the first time since 2019.
An AA inspector said: “Year-on-year improvements are made by the passionate, hands-on owners at South Lytchett in order to exceed guest expectations, including a new café, six new glamping pods, 21 new hardstanding pitches, and the addition of two posh mobile toilet units in the touring and camping fields.
“Situated in the grounds of a historic manor house, the site has modern facilities that are spotless and well maintained. There’s a TV hook-up on every pitch and free WiFi across the park.
“A warm and friendly welcome awaits at this lovely site which is well located for visiting Poole and Bournemouth. Four stylishly furnished and well-equipped Romany caravans, replete with double bed and two singles plus kitchen and fridge, are available for hire. There are also seven top-notch shepherd's huts with luxury interiors and underfloor heating.”
Earlier this year, South Lytchett Manor took the overall gold title award at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in the camping and caravan section.
