A WOMAN sustained an injury and was helped by the coastguard after apparently tripping over her dog.
Swanage Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked on Boxing Day to a lady out walking with her family along the Purbeck coast who had sustained a suspected shoulder injury.
A coastguard spokesperson said: “While walking down from Ballard [Down] towards Old Harry on the SW Coastpath, their boisterous and rather large (but adorable) puppy accidentally tripped the lady up and she landed awkwardly on the path.
“The family followed the correct procedure by calling [the] coastguard for assistance.”
Upon arrival, the team assessed the casualty and provided care. Following a discussion with the family, Swanage Coastguard and colleagues from St Albans managed to get the casualty over a fence and transported back down to Studland for further transportation to A&E via the family car.
The spokesperson added: “We wish the lady a swift recovery.”
