A WOMAN has been hit with a court bill of more than £2,000 after allegedly arriving in the country without the relevant coronavirus "testing package".
Hoda Nasir A Almuqati, aged 33 and of Nortoft Road, Bournemouth, was prosecuted for a reported breach of the Covid international travel regulations.
It was alleged that the defendant was at Heathrow Airport's terminal two on March 1 last year and she failed to possess the required details around pre-booked coronavirus tests for arrivals into England.
In February 2021, the government introduced new enforcement measures quarantine and testing for passengers arriving back in the UK, which were in place at the time of the accusation.
These regulations made it a requirement to book the appropriate tests from a government-approved provider.
The case against Almuqati was proved through the single justice procedure, with her not entering a plea to the charge.
A magistrate sitting behind closed doors at Great Manchester Magistrates' Court on Monday, January 24, issued a £1,760 fine, along with an order to pay £90 costs and a £176 surcharge.
