The Castlepoint warehouse storing donations for Ukraine is due to be re-opened today.
The warehouse, which has become home to a huge number of Ukraine donations, is set to re-open for donations at 10am following its closure last week.
Donations were temporarily stopped by the Help from Bournemouth to Ukraine group last Thursday so that steps could be taken on health and safety.
While donations to the Castlepoint site were paused, Yellow Buses’ managing director David Squire and health and safety officer Angeliki Kakaounaki, helped the group to organise risk assessments, fire risks and hazards, and training for volunteers.
Organiser of the Help from Bournemouth to Ukraine group, Karol Swiacki, said: “We’ve all been working really hard to re-open Castlepoint.
“We will open with a new strategy and new rules, but we will be even better than we were before.
“We will be so much more organised. This is a really positive thing.”
The group was organised by Karol and his friend Daniel Sulimierski last month in appeal for donations for Ukraine and has since seen an overwhelming amount of goods donated, including bedding, medical goods, toiletries and food.
Although the group have been one warehouse down, the operation continued, with all shipments to Ukraine and Poland going ahead as planned.
Ahead of its re-opening today, volunteers at the Castlepoint warehouse will be taking part in a training session running from 9am-10am.
From tomorrow, the opening hours for the donation site will return to 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturday.
