IT WAS a busy weekend for Dorset Traffic Cops with a number of motorists stopped for driving offences.
A motorbike rider driving erratically was stopped on a busy road in Poole on Friday, March 25.
The motorcycle had a number of problems with it, seven with the bikes construction and two with its paperwork.
“The rider accepted their shortcomings when we talked them through it so left with a report for 2 of the most serious offences,” said a Dorset Police spokesperson.
A driver under the influence of alcohol in Christchurch was stopped on Friday with 53mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, the legal limit is 35ml.
Saturday night saw police pull over a driver and their friends reportedly smoking cannabis in Bournemouth.
Police located the vehicle and recovered a small quantity of cannabis where the driver provided a positive result for cannabis.
The driver was arrested, sampled and released pending lab results.
Later, a driver in the Maiden Newton area was stopped after police received information the driver was using cannabis or cocaine - the driver provided a negative test and was free to go.
A vehicle was seized near to Grimstone after some shocking driving - the driver had no documents and was reported for the offences.
Later a driver was stopped by Dorchester Police colleagues in Dorchester town centre on information that the driver was regularly using cannabis.
Traffic cops assisted with a preliminary drug test and the result was positive. The driver has been released awaiting lab results.
All but one of the stops made by the traffic police were a “direct result” of public information.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “All bar one of these stops were a direct result of public information so if you see something, say something, it may prevent a collision and save a life.”
