A MOBILITY company in Dorset has been working in collaboration with a team GB Paralympian to donate wheelchairs to people in Ukraine.
Boscombe-based Lifestyle & Mobility have been working with team GB Paralympian Anne Wafula Strike MBE to supply mobility aiding equipment to Ukraine.
The partnership has seen a scheme rolled out in which Lifestyle & Mobility will donate a wheelchair for every one purchased by a customer, with approximately 17 wheelchairs already donated.
The company have also added a donation option on their website, so customers can choose to part or fully fund a wheelchair to be sent to Ukraine.
Ryan Curtis, the branch manager at Lifestyle & Mobility, said: “We are very conscious that the equipment we supply is crucial in aiding mobility in the best of times and of course in the worst of times it is critical also.”
Lifestyle & Mobility are also offering to cover costs of repair work to ensure the wheelchairs are in a useable condition. This is a great prospect for wheelchair owners who are interested in upgrading their chair, as they can chose to donate their existing one to Ukraine, whatever its condition.
The company has supported Anne Wafula Strike MBE in her past efforts to send wheelchairs to Africa and became aware of her most recent appeal for Ukraine via social media.
Ryan Curtis added: “We became aware of her appeal for wheelchairs on social media so we reached out to her to see how we could help.
“The response from our customers has been extraordinary.”
