Quomps Splashpark

Christchurch Quay

If you’re looking for some budget-friendly summer fun, then look no further than Quomps Splashpark on Christchurch Quay.

Featuring a well-equipped play area, enclosed splash park, a shallow paddling pool and water play fountains, it’s all completely free to use.

With an ice cream kiosk, public toilets and plenty of space to lay out a picnic blanket, there's no reason not to make a day of it.

Hamworthy Park

Poole

Sitting on Poole Harbour, Hamworthy Park is made up of a large, green open space, home to a paddling pool and play park.

And for families looking for some seaside action too, the park also incorporates Hamworthy Beach.

A feast for the eyes, the location boasts views of Brownsea Island and the Purbecks, perfect if you’re going to be hanging around all day. It’s also free to visit.

Splash Fountain at Upton Country Park

Poole

Upton Country Park is one of the oldest sites in Poole, home to Grad II* listed Upton House

The park is free to attend all year round but for people arriving by car, there are parking charges.

Among the many other attractions, during the warmer months of the year, Splash Fountain in the Walled Garden adds to the fun.

The water feature bursts into life twice a day throughout the summer, from 11am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4pm.

Redhill Park

Bournemouth

Another free way to spend a sunny day in Dorset is at Redhill Park in Bournemouth.

Suitable for toddlers to teens, along with the all-important paddling pool, there’s also play equipment, a ball court, small skate zone and football facilities.

To make it another viable all-day option, you will also find public toilets and the Fox Café in the former bowling pavilion for refreshments.

Lymington Sea Water Swimming Baths

New Forest

Not technically in Dorset but right on the doorstep is Lymington Sea Water Swimming Baths – also known as Lymington lido.

Built in 1833, it is the oldest lido in the United Kingdom, and at 110 metres long by 50 metres wide it is also one of the largest.

Watched over by lifeguards, you can opt for a 2 hour swimming session (£4 for adults, £2 for children), a 75-minute inflatables session (£16 per person) or a 60-minute paddleboarding session (£8 per person).
