A statement from the organisers said: “The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has left everybody at Arts by the Sea Festival deeply saddened, and our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this difficult time.
“As a festival supported by Arts Council England, an organisation established by Royal Charter in 1946, we wish to express our profound gratitude to Her Majesty the Queen for her support of arts and culture throughout her reign.
“As we pause and reflect on the UK’s longest reigning monarch, a decision has been made between Arts by the Sea Festival, BCP Council and Christchurch BID to postpone this Saturday’s PLAY Christchurch event as a sign of respect.
“The event will be rescheduled for a future date to be confirmed soon.”
