EASTER is just around the corner and a host of family-friend events will be taking place across the area.
If you’re looking for Easter egg trails, hunts and other events to keep the children entertained, here’s a guide to what’s happening.
1. Durlston Country Park is running a ‘bonkers bunnies’ children’s Easter trail over the Easter holidays between 10am and 4pm. Little ones are tasked with finding all the bunnies to win a prize. Entry costs £3.
2. Head to Avon Country Park to take part in its Easter code breaker trail. Families can have fun trying to crack the code and spot signs of spring in a trail around the heath. Entry costs £3.50 with a prize bag included available from the visitor centre.
3. The Walled Garden Moreton is hosting an Easter trail until Sunday, April 16. Visitors should complete the trail and answer questions to claim an Easter prize. Maps cost £3 each. The garden is open from 9am to 4.30pm.
4. Children can take part in a garden trail at Russell Cotes until Sunday, April 16. Youngsters can pick up a trail sheet from the museum with two to choose from. When finished, they can stop by the welcome desk and collect a small reward. Easter crafts are also taking place on April 6, 11, 12 and 13. Drop in between 10am and 1pm. There’s no need to pre-book. Costs £3 per child.
5. Moors Valley Country Park is running an egg hunt between 9am and 5pm until April 17. Participants must find seven giant hidden Easter egg shapes around Moors Lake. Activity sheets are available from the visitor centre and cost £2.50.
6. A ‘fantastic egg hunt’ is being held at Upton Country Park until April 10. Visitors can start at the welcome centre looking for eggs across the park. Suitable for children aged between three and nine years. Pick up a puzzle sheet for just £4. The new Welcome Centre is in the main car park, open daily from 10am.
7. Friends of Hamworthy Park (FOHP) are holding a free Easter egg hunt at Hamworthy Park on Easter Sunday at 10.30am. Participants can search the park for Easter clues. There will also be a FOHP stall, games and more.
8. Hunt for Easter eggs at Kingston Lacy between 9.30am and 3pm until April 16. Costs £3 per child and includes an activity booklet, paper bunny ears, pencil and a chocolate egg or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg at the end. Booking not required. Admission fee applies.
9. Highcliffe Castle is hosting an Easter woodland trail on April 9 and 10. Participants will make their way through the lawns and surrounding woodland answering questions along the way. When you have finished the trail, head outside the castle to receive your certificate and make your very own Easter mask to take home. Costs £3 for children is free for adults. In the event of poor weather, the trail will still take place, but mask making will be relocated to the inside the castle. Pre-booking is required.
