McDonald’s is making a change to its rewards scheme, giving customers another opportunity to convert points into free food.
The McDonald’s rewards scheme already gives customers the chance to convert points to food when they reach 1,500 and 2,500, points as well as 4,000.
Now, customers can redeem points at a new milestone of 5,500 points with new menu items up for grabs, for free.

Say hello to new icons in the McDonald's App – we’re looking at the Mighty McMuffin, McCrispy, Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese and McSpicy joining the roster for 5500 points 👀 pic.twitter.com/bR6bzqCPy6
More items have also been added to the MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme so customers can get more food and drinks for free.
A Regular Cold Soft Drink can be redeemed at 1,500 points while 2,500 points can be used to get a free Apple Pie.
That’s not all though as 4,000 points can be used to get a free Filet-O-Fish.
How can you earn points at McDonald’s?
Customers who are opted in to MyMcDonald’s Rewards and order and pay through the McDonald’s App will automatically earn points on their order and this includes McDelivery when ordered via the app.
Those who don’t have the app can download it via the McDonald’s website – to earn points they’ll need to sign up and opt into the rewards scheme.

Those who reach 1,500 points can choose between menu items including small Fries, a Hash Brown, a regular Cold Soft Drink or a Side Salad.
With 2,500 points, a Double Cheeseburger, Vegetable Deluxe or Apple Pie is up for grabs while when 4,000 points is hit customers can choose between menu items like 6 Chicken McNuggets, a Big Mac or a Filet-O-Fish.
Now, 5,500 points means free items too, as mentioned above.
Customers can also choose to donate the cash equivalent of their points to BBC Children in Need, FareShare and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
McDonald’s breakfast is available from 5am-11am and McDonald’s lunchtime menu is available from 11am daily.
