There were dramatic scenes after a lorry carrying cattle overturned on the A35.
Emergency crews raced to the scene at the Bakers Arms Roundabout just after 6pm yesterday.
Road closures were put in place before the trapped animals could be freed from the overturned trailer.
The roundabout and a section of road heading towards Poole wete closed for most of the evening while recovery vehicles attempted to deal with the stricken lorry.
Farmers from the vicinity also turned out in force and helped move the freed cattle to a safe location.
Martyn Bates and Julie Turnbill, who are visiting from Australia, also made their way to the scene from their nearby campsite after hearing the lorry overturn.
