AN EXTRAORDINARY 15-metre tall 'beacon of hope’ has landed on Bournemouth Beach ahead of this weekend’s festival.
PORTAL is designed by Lucid Creates and made especially for Bournemouth’s Arts by the Sea festival.
Lucid Creates described itself as a design fabrication studio specialising in creating out-of-this-world transient environments.
The installation was created to "evoke awe and wonder".
The archway is lined with lights that move and shift to create a £mesmerising and ethereal display of glowing light and patterns".
Lucy Base, marketing manager at Arts by the Sea Festival said: “I think it looks really impressive.
“It really stands out on Bournemouth Beach. It's commissioned especially for Arts by the Sea.
“It's a large-scaling installation, as you can see, but I think it looks a real focal point for Bournemouth. And hopefully, it does attract a lot of attention, which would be great.”
Justina, 29, from Bournemouth, said: “I think it looks interesting and definitely artsy.”
Karen, from Bournemouth, also admired the impressive monument, adding: “I think it's amazing and something that comes from us and it’s great that everyone can appreciate the fact that it is free for people to come and watch.”
The Bournemouth Arts by the Sea takes place between September 27 and October 1.
