Film crews descended on a beach in west Dorset for what is believed to be a Disney+ drama.

West Bexington beach has been taken over by film crews this week but crew members have remained tight lipped about what is in production.

There are two giant mounds of sand and some stages mounted in the car park which crews have begun painting.

A witness said they saw a prop police car with the words Garda across the side, which is the national police and security service of Ireland.

They also saw a hole being dug, and some small shelters which have some props including bunches of flowers.

It's understood this could be part of the production for a new 10-part drama titled Say Nothing, which is set to hit the streaming service next year.

Say Nothing is based on a book by the same name written by Patrick Radden Keefe, detailing the life and death of Jean McConville, who was abducted and murdered by the IRA in 1972.

Mrs McConville’s body was recovered on Louth beach in 2003, ending a four-year search.

It is unknown whether any famous actors will be starring in the production.

A local resident said: “I have been told it is Disney but that is a broad spectrum, I don’t think they are saying anymore in case it gets lots of publicity."

The Club House at West Bexington has been closed while the film crew have been renting the beach car park out but will reopen on Friday.

The filming is taking place at the same time as what appears to be a Netflix recording of comedy-drama, Heartstopper, further along the coast in Lyme Regis.

Crews and filming equipment have been seen on Monmouth and Sandy beaches on Monday and Tuesday this week.

This isn’t the first time that a Disney+ production has been filmed on a Dorset beach, with scenes for the Star Wars series Andor filmed in Winspit Quarry, near Worth Matravers in May 2021.  

Dorset has also played host to film crews for the production of Dunkirk, World War Z and Nanny McPhee in recent years.

The Daily Echo's sister paper, the Bridport and Lyme Regis News, has approached Disney+ for comment.
