AN ANIMAL activist calling for a plant-based food system staged an hour-long protest in the milk aisle of a Bournemouth supermarket.
Daniel Glennon, of Animal Rising, hit out at the ‘cruelty and environmental damage caused by the dairy industry’.
He wants to see mass rewilding to tackle the climate and ecological crises, whilst also saving animal lives.
Daniel held placards and spoke to shoppers about “safer and sustainable” plant-based food choices.
Tesco staff at the branch in Castle Lane East are said to have erected a first aid barrier around him to stop his protests on Saturday afternoon.
Daniel, a customer service trainer, said: “I have taken action because the dairy industry is one of the planet’s most environmentally damaging, producing more CO2 than aviation.
"In addition, it is inherently cruel, with calves being snatched away from their mothers hours after being born.”
He said that milk is often contaminated with antibiotics and hormones.
The action was intended to put the spotlight on “our broken relationship with other animals and nature”
Earlier this year Animal Rising disrupted the Grand National and the Epsom Derby.
