Families are being invited to discover the weird and wonderful nature at RSPB Arne.
As the days and nights grow cold, dark, and damp, and the scariest evening of the year approaches, nature’s Halloween specials start to pop up, particularly weird fungi.
This Halloween half-term people are invited to enjoy these events at RSPB Arne, including a special women's only full moon walk.
Birdwatching for Beginners with coffee and cake provided:
Get to grips with basic birdwatching skills and improve your confidence in identifying UK birds.
Join expert volunteers for an introductory talk, followed by a guided walk around different areas of the reserve. Improve your skills in basic spotting and identification and learn more about finding and identifying the birds we have at Arne or even in your garden at home.
No prior knowledge or experience is necessary. The price of your ticket will include a coffee and cake option provided in the Arne café.
Saturday, October 21, 10am to 12pm Saturday, October 28, 10am to 12pm.
Cost: £26.25 per person (RSPB members £22.65).
Autumn Self-Guided Nature Trail:
Explore the self-guided trail for children of all ages. Follow the trail, using your clues, to explore the reserve and use your binoculars to see even more.
Finish your adventure by making a fat ball birdfeeder to hang up from a tree or bird table to give your local birds the energy they need to get through the Winter.
Free child binocular hire will be available from the Arne shop.
Saturday, October 21 to Sunday 29, 10am-4pm.

Binocular and Telescope Demonstration Weekend:
The RSPB Arne Shop has a full range of binoculars and spotting scopes for you to sample, whether you're looking for your very first pair or to upgrade your current items.
Experts will be on hand to guide you through the experience and answer any questions you may have. Drop in anytime.
Saturday, October 21, 10am to 3pm Sunday, October 22, 10am to 3pm.
Nature Tots – Hibernating Hedgehogs:
This month Nature Tots will be finding out why hedgehogs hibernate, what they need to survive the chilly winter and how they got their name, plus making your very own wonderfully spikey hedgehog to take home!
Booking is essential, and spaces are limited. Children are to be supervised by an accompanying adult at all times during the session.
Tuesday, October 24, 10am to 11am Cost: £6.75 per child. Free entry for one accompanying adult per ticket.
Winter Birds Guided Walk:
From dabbling ducks to wonderful waders, talk a walk around Arne to discover the birding spectacle which can be seen across the Winter months.
Join expert volunteers as they talk you through the varied bird species and beyond which can be found across the coastal and heathland areas of the reserve.
Wednesday, October 25, 10am to 12pm. Cost: £18.75 per person (RSPB members £15.15).
*Women Only* Full Moon Walk:
A special opportunity to discover RSPB Arne by moonlight, in an event uniquely created by women for women.
This event is open to anybody who identifies as a woman. Non-binary people who feel comfortable in a women's only space are also welcome.
It is a guided walk around the reserve, taking in the beauty of the full moon and the night sky, led by a female RSPB member of staff.
Tickets include a flask of hot chocolate to enjoy while you take in the beauty of the full moon sky.
Saturday, October 28, 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Cost: £12 per child (14-17) (RSPB member £10.50), £19.50 per adult (RSPB member £16.50).
