A CHRISTMAS market due to be held in Wimborne this weekend has been postponed due to bad weather.
Wimborne BID has taken the decision to postpone this Saturday’s market due to a severe weather warning.
Wimborne BID manager Tammy Sleet said: “We’ve carried out a thorough risk assessment in view of the weekend’s weather forecast and sadly, we cannot risk this open-air event this weekend, especially in its extended format.”
She added: “However, there will still be lots going on this weekend with the Allendale Christmas Craft Market, jumble sale at Wimborne Community Centre, exhibits by Handmade Wimborne’s talented crafters at Walford Mill plus in the evening, Lewis Manning’s Candles on the Green’ event in the Minster 6pm - a chance to reflect, celebrate and remember loved ones.
The market has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 26, the day after the Christmas lights switch on.
The Christmas market will run 11am until 3pm.
This year’s market has been extended to include the whole High Street and Crown Mead.
Due to the rescheduled market, free parking in Wimborne will now coincide only with the lights switch-on held on Saturday, November 25.
The lights switch-on ceremony is at 4.15pm with the lights illuminated at 4.30pm.
There will also be live entertainment in Wimborne Square starting at 1pm.
The festive season will be welcomed in by the Wimborne Militia shooting muskets on the Minster Green.
