ROBERT Readman (Echo, November 21) vehemently objects to TV presenter Naga Munchetty referring to ‘the onset of the gifting season’ during the BBC Breakfast show.
I am wholeheartedly in agreement with Mr Readman’s view that ‘it is not the gifting season, it’s the Christmas season’.
Naga Munchetty, no doubt following the BBC’s ludicrous guidelines relating to political correctness, sends the message that Christmas has no spiritual dimension and, in 2023, is nothing more than a vast commercial entity.
Such a view shows a callous disregard to the feelings of many millions of Christians who hold a sincere and deeply held belief that Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, an event that even to many non-believers symbolises a way of life based on selflessness and love.
