A holiday park has been named the best in the UK in national camping awards.
The UK booking platform Campsites.co.uk has announced the winners of its annual Camping and Glamping Award awards which commends the holiday sites that have gone above and beyond for outdoor enthusiasts throughout the year.
This year saw Bridport-based Highlands End Holiday Park crowned ‘Best Holiday Park'.
It was awarded for its wide range of facilities, and accommodation options as well as its coastal location.
Anja Jackson, marketing officer at West Dorset Leisure Holidays, said: "We’re thrilled to be recognised by Campsites.co.uk again, and the Best Holiday Park category is a fantastic one to win.
"We’re always striving to make Highlands End a park that caters for everyone, no matter what type of holiday they’re looking for. Many of our guests return year after year and we really appreciate all the wonderful reviews left by happy holidaymakers."
The park already boasts many accolades including winning South West’s Holiday Park of the Year for the 2022 Tourism Excellence Awards as well as a TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice Award in 2021.
Three other Dorset sites featured as runners up in the awards including Longthorns Farm, Wareham, for Best Family Campsite (South West), and Flowerdew Farm, Punckowle for Best Newcomer Award (UK) and Woodfrys Farm, Shaftesbury for Greener Site Award (UK).
The Campsites.co.uk website features more than 3,500 sites from all corners of the UK and their mission is to inspire people to get outdoors and be more adventurous.
Their awards span various categories, including ‘Best Campsite’, ‘Best Glamping Site’ and ‘Most Unique Site’. Other specific categories include ‘Greener Site Award’ and ‘Best Coastal Campsite’.
The quality of sites is assessed using a range of criteria including metrics taken from the website, feedback from verified guest reviews, site visits and editorial debate.
Martin Smith, the founder of Campsites.co.uk said: "Choosing gets tougher each year, but these sites went the extra mile. A huge congratulations to our winners, thank you for setting the camping bar so high!”
