A proposal has been submitted to rip down an existing block of flats to build replacement ‘ultra-modern’ apartments.
The planning application submitted by Fortitudo proposes to build 17 apartments at Evening Hill, 18 Alington Road, Poole.
The development will replace an existing building that has been 'extensively modified' since its original construction.
The plans, designed by ARC Architect, feature underground parking and designated areas for bicycles and bin storage.
A request to demolish the existing four flats was approved in October of this year.
According to documents submitted to BCP Council, the proposed development is based on a contemporary design and intends to utilise sea views.
In terms of materials, the external walls would be a combination of brickwork and cladding comprising bronze, timber and recon stone.
Fortitudo’s proposed development would span over five storeys but will visually look as though it were four stories from Alington Road, and due to the gradient of the site, the building includes a lower ground floor to the rear.
The site gently slopes from Alington Road down to Shore Road.
The design and access statement reads: “The existing access onto Alington Road will be improved to provide vehicle and pedestrian access.
“It is not anticipated that there will be significant additional traffic generated by the proposed development that will adversely affect road safety or the ability of the transport infrastructure to accommodate traffic.”
A decision on the application has yet to be made, and comments can be submitted on the council’s planning portal.
Chief executive of Fortitudo, Richard Carr, commented on the proposed development.
Mr Carr said: "It is an outstanding site, and the 17 new apartments will be magnificent because of their spectacular views."
He added: "I think it will be a welcome new development in sandbank."
Earlier this month, Fortitudo lodged plans to demolish a home in nearby Pearce Avenue, Lilliput.
It would be replaced with three new properties with an estimated price tag of £9.25m each.
The five-bedroom properties would boast 9,890 square feet of living space.
Furthermore, each bedroom would feature an en-suite bathroom and dressing room.
Pearce Avenue was previously dubbed the most expensive road in Poole, with other houses in the area selling for as much as £5.67m.
Other homes on the road have recently sold for more than £1m, with one fetching £5.67m, according to Rightmove.
A consultation is expected to end on January 2 and a decision on the proposal is yet to be made.
