IN your nostalgic look back at Southbourne photos (15/5/24) , I was pleased to notice that the parking in Southbourne Grove in the mid 1970s - featuring among other cars a striking red Fiat 125 and a vivid lime green Volvo - was as it is today ; no yellow lines, no pedestrian-only zones and no cycle lanes.
The only cyclist is managing to successfully ride on the road and the pedestrians seem equally capable of walking, despite some wearing excessively flared trousers.
Does this lack of parking restrictions explain the continued retail success of this area?
