A MANOR house converted into a traditional country pub in West Parley is Pub of the Week.
The Curlew is described as a pub with a "varied and interesting history".
The building was constructed in the 1800s and served as a farm that mostly produced root vegetables.
After gaining its license, the building became Mulligan's fish restaurant, then a themed pub and, more recently, The Manor, before settling on being named after the wading bird—the Curlew.
Lauren Parsons is the deputy manager and has worked at The Curlew for five years.
Lauren said: "It's a lovely manor house with a nice beer garden. In 2019, the pub was refurbished, which opened it up more and made the venue lighter and brighter, and we added some modern contemporary furniture."
The Curlew is food-focused, and the menu is "full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes".
Lauren said on Sundays, the pub serves "delicious" roast dinner with all the trimmings.
The roasts include turkey, beef, lamb, pork, or a vegetarian option, served with "seasonal vegetables, ruffled garlic & herb roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding and as much gravy as you like".
The Curlew has an extensive drinks menu, serving crisp ciders, homemade cocktails, and beers, ales, and Guinness.
Lauren said: "The cocktails are really nice; they are all made fresh by the staff, and my personal favourite is the Long Island iced tea."
The Curlew is dog friendly and even has a resident dog, Woody, who belongs to Lauren's mum.
Lauren added: "We are a great pub for people coming back from the beach, and it's really close to Bournemouth Airport, so it's perfect for people coming back from their holidays.
"The team here is amazing, and I enjoy the social aspect of it. And the clientele are very friendly and we get a lot of regular customers."
The Curlew is located at 287 Christchurch Road, West Parley, BH22 8SQ.
It is open Monday to Friday, 11.30am to 11pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am.
