A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD was bitten on her elbow by a dog. 

The girl was with her family in Salisbury Road, Blandford, when they walked past a man who was walking what was believed to be a young beagle-type dog. 

As they walked past, the dog bit the girl on her elbow. The bite broke the skin and left a graze, but the girl did not require immediate medical treatment. 

It was reported that the man with the dog did not stop at the scene and left without checking that the girl was all right. 

He is described as being aged in his 60s or 70s, white, around five feet 11 inches tall and of average build with white hair. The man was wearing a tweed jacket, dark-coloured T-shirt, light blue jeans and black trainers. 

Police officers are appealing for information from the incident that happened at about 6.30pm on Sunday, June 23. 

Police constable Sam Berry, of North Dorset police, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries into this incident and we are keen to identify the owner of the dog involved, so we can speak to him and take his account of what happened. 

“I would urge anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please contact us. 

“I would also like to make a direct plea to the dog owner to do the right thing and come forward so we can talk to you about this matter.”
