WIMBORNE residents will go to the polls next Thursday as part of a by-election.
Dorset Council has confirmed that elections for six town councillor vacancies will be held on Thursday, August 8.
There are seven nominees standing in the Wimborne Town ward, with six positions available. Those standing are Chris Brown, Lauren Hector, Bill Jaggs, Rodger Nash, Christopher Ryan, Ian Sandy and David Trim.
And in the Wimborne East ward, there is just one councillor role available and one candidate standing, the independent candidate John Billington.
Wimborne Town Council said: “Those eligible to vote include residents and business owners on the Electoral Register – if you are unsure whether you are on the register you can check with Dorset Council elections team.
“There are two polling stations – Allendale House is for all residents with an electoral register number reference WIM 1 – 1 to WIM 1-3159 and Leigh Park Community Centre/Family Hub with an electoral register number reference WIM 2 – 1 to WIM 2 –143.”
