A MAN was found with a knife on the seafront and then spat at police as he was detained.
Dorset Police received a report of a disturbance in the area of the Honeycombe Chine beach huts near Boscombe Promenade at 10.27pm on Tuesday night.
It was reported that a man was attempting to steal alcohol and causing a nuisance to members of the public.
Officers attended and a 27-year-old man from Bournemouth was detained.
He was reportedly found to be in possession of a knife.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and theft.
It was further reported that he had spat at officers as he was being detained, so he was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Our continued and increased police presence – with the assistance of our partners – will continue throughout the summer, and we will continue to deal efficiently with any reports of crime and anti-social behaviour.”
