THE English Touring Opera (ETO) is set to conclude its autumn tour at the Lighthouse Poole this November.
The performances, scheduled for Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 at 7.30pm, explore themes of the supernatural, myths and folklore.
On Friday, attendees can view a double bill of Dame Judith Weir’s Blond Eckbert and a new staging called Do Not Take My Story For a Fairytale.
The Saturday performance will feature a new production of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snowmaiden.
Robin Norton-Hale, general director of ETO, said: "As the nights begin drawing in this autumn, we're looking forward to welcoming audiences to a suitably atmospheric season of works inspired by myths and folktales.
"Our quest for individual identity and connection with others is examined in our performances, whether romantic, psychological or supernatural."
Blond Eckbert, based on a supernatural short story by Ludwig Tieck, recently opened the Aldeburgh Festival and received rave reviews from The Times and Opera Now.
Do Not Take My Story For a Fairytale is a stirring compilation of song cycles and cantatas that draws from Ludwig Tieck’s Der Blond Eckbert.
Concluding the tour is the new production of The Snowmaiden, a classic coming-of-age tale, which has soprano Ffion Edwards in the title role.
