ELDERLY residents were scammed out of thousands of pounds after thinking they were speaking to famous pop stars.
Residents came together in Milford on Sea to speak about recent crimes with the regional force.
It was revealed that some of the victims were scammed online after thinking they were talking to Celine Dion and Tom Jones.
A spokesperson for Lymington and New Milton Police said: “Acting Sgt Brown and PC Longworth met residents this morning in Milford on Sea to discuss their concerns around policing and how it has changed over the years.
“It was also a good opportunity to discuss internet safety.
"In the last couple of weeks, we have had a couple of victims scammed out of thousands of pounds whilst they believed they were talking to Tom Jones and Celine Dion respectively.”
