THE SOUTH West has been issued a yellow heat health alert by the Met Office.
Despite the windy conditions across the south today, a serious weather warning has been put in place for the area.
Those who are vulnerable are urged to remain vigilant of the weather.
The alert has been issued for the South West among other regions and will be in place between August 11 at 9am until August 13 at 9am.
The UV index is due to rise to 4 and humidity could reach as high as 72%.
On the alert, the UKHSA said: “Minor impacts are probable across the health and social care sector, including increased use of healthcare services by the vulnerable population [and] increase in the risk of mortality amongst vulnerable individuals and increased potential for indoor environments to become very warm.”
Last Tuesday saw one of the hottest days recorded in 2024 as beachgoers flocked to the seaside.
The last heat health alert for Dorset was issued on July 26 ahead of the summer heatwave.
A spokesperson for NHS Dorset said: “Anyone can become unwell when the weather is hot, but some are at higher risk.
“Look out for older people, people with long-term health conditions & young children.”
