THE TRUSTEES of Sherborne Museum are asking for planning consent for solar panels on one of its roof areas.
The proposal is to install up to 14 panels, capable of generating 430w of power on the southern (rear) roof slope of the Abbey Gatehouse, which will be positioned in two rows, one above the other.
The Museum say the southern roof slope of the Gatehouse cannot be viewed from street level, being completely obscured by the buildings on the north side of Half Moon Street.
Sherborne Town Council says it supports the application.
