SWIMMERS are urged not to swim in the sea after an advisory has been issued following a warning from DEFRA.

Milford-on-Sea is currently under investigation after an incident caused by a power outage at Southern Waters’ HQ.

As a result, wastewater entered the network and flooded the pumping station, causing the water to possibly become contaminated.

New Forest District Council (NFDC) is installing signs on site today to advise of the no bathing guidance.

When safe to swim in the area the signs will be removed, the Environment Agency’s website will be updated, and NFDC will add the information to social media channels.

NFDC is working closely with Southern Water, the Environment Agency, and other partners to monitor the situation.
