MULTIPLE roads will be closed to make way for the Swanage Folk Festival.
From 8am – 5pm on September 7 during the festival, the following roads will be closed to all motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders except emergency services vehicles and those involved in the event:
- Shore Road from its junction with Clifton Road to its junction with Victoria Avenue.
- Victoria Avenue from its junction with De Moulham Road to its junction with Shore Road.
- Lower High Street from its junction with Encombe Road to its junction with Seymer Road.
- The Square in its entirety.
Walrond Road from its junction with De Moulham Road to its junction with Shore Road is to be used as a storage compound for the popular event and will be closed from September 6 from 0.01am to 23.59pm to the same road users as those on September 7.
A spokesperson for Dorset Council said: “There will be signed alternative routes for diverted traffic.
“Marshals will be stationed at strategic points to ensure only emergency vehicles and those taking part in the Festival have access.”
“Any unauthorised Person who uses or permits the use of the road(s) indicated in contravention of the Notice will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1,000.”
