A SPORTS venue dubbed 'the best pub in Westbourne' is Pub of The Week.
Managed by Adi and Jo Burton, a husband-and-wife team, The Westbourne is described as the area's community hub.
Located at the end of Westbourne High Street, the venue is a "melting pot of different types of people from and around the area."
Jo said: "We are very dog friendly and are predominantly a sports pub, but we like to raise as much money for charity as we can."
Throughout March 2024, The Westbourne raised over £10,000 for Forest Holme Hospice charity.
Jo said: "One of our regular customers, Angie Roberts, was very poorly last year, and we found out she had cancer.
"She went into Forest Holme in February, and they were absolutely amazing."
Sadly, Angie passed away; however, whilst she was alive, she asked Jo and Adi to do some fundraising and "worked together as a community to raise £10,000."
Adi said: "We are one big family. The regulars that come into the venue are the bread and butter.
"If one person needs a hand they will help out. Everybody here just really looks after each other."
The Westbourne shows various sporting events, which can be played on one of the three screens in the pub.
Adi said they primarily play football, rugby and boxing however, they do take requests from people looking to watch a specific sports.
Adi said: "We had a group of lads ask if we could play Gaelic Football, which is something I had never heard of. I managed to find it on Sky Sports and put it on.
"I didn't know we had a local team, but now after they play games they meet here and this is there place."
Adi and Jo have worked in pubs for 28 years but say working in The Westbourne has made them the happiest they've ever been.
Mavis Lewis is a regular customer at The Westbourne, and she comes in "six and a half days a week".
Speaking at the pub, she said: "The staff are absolutely fabulous! No one needs to be afraid to walk through the door because someone will come and say hello."
