AN ORIGINAL member of the RAF Red Arrows Display team has died.
Retired Squadron Leader Henry Prince, callsign Red 7, was part of the founding team that was put together to create the Red Arrows 60 years ago.
Henry was also part of the decision for the Red Arrow’s iconic royal red colour.
When the Red Arrows first formed, the crew were going to be called the Yellowjacks due to the colour of their trainer aircraft.
According to the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Henry died yesterday (August 22).
As a tribute to his dedication towards the RAF team, the former squadron leader’s name is to be printed on one of the Red Arrow’s jets for the rest of this year’s season.
The Red Arrows are usually a common occurrence at the Bournemouth Air Festival held every year along Bournemouth beach.
This year, the Red Arrows have flown off to Canada as part of a five-week tour so will not be performing at this year's Air Festival.
